3. Corneal edema: Corneal edema includes a buildup of fluid in the cornea. Contact lenses cover the cornea, which helps to decrease the amount of oxygen in the eye. Lack of oxygen, as well as contact lens material, can lead to edema. Symptoms might include blurry vision, sensitivity to light, and eye pain.
