What happens if you don't use the contact lens solution?

contact lens solution

Overview

Running out of contact lens solutions is a problem most monthly contact users are likely to encounter at some point.

Ever happened? For instance, you are cleaning your contacts and suddenly realize the solution bottle is getting empty or is empty; whatever the case is, you find yourself needing a replacement fast.

The contact solution gets constructed with chemicals & preservatives; this not only washes the lenses but also disinfects them and safely removes the protein. Various brands and types consist of varying ingredients. But some of the main ones are boric acid, detergents, and other things that keep the contacts moisturized and disinfected.

Rinsing the lenses with water

No...! never wash the contact lenses with water. I mean maybe, you might think that keeping your contact lenses in the water for one night and there will not be any problem, but alarm it would cause severe consequences & only you will be responsible for this.

Water (regardless of where it is from) contains bacteria that can cause eye infections. Furthermore, your soft lenses may lose their original shape when storing or rinsing them. Some sources may tell you that distilled water is good enough for storing contacts if you boil it first. Plus, this is also not recommended because there is no way to know for a particular time if you've fixed all the issues with the water. It is risky to store your contacts in distilled water for even one night.

Why only contact solution ?

Contact solution is made to keep the contacts clean & using anything other than the solution means putting your eyes in danger. Technically the contact lens solution is the organic fuel for both lenses and eyes to clear the vision by filtering the lenses' layers.

Conclusion

If you are a contact lens user, you must have encountered dry eye problems, itching, & so on. You don't have eye drops, but you still can work with a contact solution. As we all know, contact solution is made and used to wash contact lenses from the daily grime & germs that build up. It won't emphasize for use in your eyes as drops. Although contact solution does contain the saline solution (which is safe for the eyes), it also has cleaning compounds.
