How are colored contact lenses made

contact lenses

The latest colored contact lenses are available in many colors & they enhance your daily look. You can even have them on during other special occasions too, like Halloween. With such lenses, anyone can change the color of the eyes and adopt a look that is bold, eye-catching, or somewhere in between.

You may find several colored contacts with or without the lenses, they rectify farsightedness, nearsightedness, or astigmatism. Irrespective of if you need the colored contact lenses to change your eye color or for vision correction, you must have a proper contact lens prescription from a qualified eye doctor to wear them.

Colored lenses can be either the ideal way to switch up your usual eye color or they could be your signature statement. You won’t need to wear a lot of flashy jewelry or makeup if you turn your eyes into your hallmark accessory!

Vintage Context of Contact Lenses

In 1969, a professor Mr. Wichterle patented the idea of drowning the colored dye into a hydrogel (soft material) from one surface and a precipitant from the other surface so that when they met, an insoluble color was precipitated in the middle of the lens matrix, or deposited between two polymer layers.

Without such fixation, dyes infused into hydrogel lenses can diffuse back out during wear or cleaning, with loss of color. Furthermore, the required materials can be deployed to allow the entry for larger-dye-molecules & then contracted again to trap the color in the material. For achieving color excess, reactive dyes can be attached covalently to the spine of the polymer chain, either with the dye first infused into the lens and then fixed or by binding it to the surface of the lens.

Choosing the legit contact lenses

The most appropriate contact lens color ideal for you will depend on several factors like your hair color & skin tone. Eventually, the best design and color to choose from depends on the look you want to get; it may be a daring and dramatic look or a natural-looking and subtle look.

If you have light eyes & want to change your look for a more subtle one, your best choice would be an enhancement tint defining the edges of your iris & depending on your natural color.
