What you should never do if you wear contact lenses

Determining how to wear contact lenses can take a little time. You also have to be extra careful while wearing contact lenses, here are a few essential points to remember while wearing contact lenses:

1. If you touch your contacts without washing your hands, bacteria will be transferred to the lens. So, always handle contact lenses with clean hands before putting your contacts on and again before removing them.

2. Reuse contact solution or leaving used cleaning solution in your contact lens case.

3. Over wearing your lenses can cause infections. If your eyeballs don't get enough oxygen, then the corneas can swell, leading to corneal abrasion and eventually an infection if bacteria gets in there. In general, your eyes need periods of quiet and rest, so make sure you give them that break.

4. Redness and irritation is a common problem if you will wear your contacts while sleeping. So, try avoid using contact lenses while going to bed to fall asleep.

5. Going into the water with your contacts can cause infections. The shower, hot tub, swimming pool can have bacteria and amoebae that can infect your eyes. If you are having a shower with your contacts on, try to keep your eyes closed as much as possible. And if you do end up getting water on your contacts, remember to clean them afterward.
